The Lok Sabha today witnessed heated arguments between TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee and treasury bench members over some of his comments against Union Minister Giriraj Singh. During the Question Hour, when Mr Banerjee was raising the issue of alleged delayed funds of West Bengal related to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, he made some remarks against Mr Singh. He accused the Minister of behaving inappropriately while being in his seat. The treasury bench members objected to the TMC MP’s comments. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal also lodged a strong protest over the language used by Mr Banerjee. Speaker Om Birla asked both sides to maintain order in the House and urged members not to pass any comments on each other.
