Lok Sabha Resumes Discussion on Union and Jammu & Kashmir Budgets for 2024-25

The Lok Sabha today resumed discussion on the Union Budget for 2024-25 and Budget of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for 2024-25. Participating in the discussion, Jugal Kishore of BJP said, this Budget is important from the economic and social perspective and this will prove beneficial for the people. He said emphasis has been made on infrastructure, agriculture, skilling, employment, and energy among others in the Budget. He said, lakhs of youths will be given skill training in the coming years. Talking about the Budget of Jammu and Kashmir, he said, this is for the betterment and development of the Union Territory. He said, focus has been laid on agriculture, tourism, rural development, health, education, sports, and skill training and funds have been allocated for these sectors. He said, Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing unprecedented growth after the abrogation of Article 370. Intervening in the discussion, Panchayati Raj Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh said, the government is continuously working to make the country self-reliant during the third term of Narendra Modi government. He rejected the opposition’s claim that this budget is Bihar and Andhra Pradesh centric, saying that the Prime Minister is working to take the country forward.
        
Jai Prakash of Congress alleged that the Central government is not giving weightage to the pending projects of Haryana. Raising the issue of Minimum Support Prices to farmers, he said, the government has constituted a committee to look into this matter but several farmers organisations were not taken on board. Pointing towards the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, he said, the disbursement amount of six thousand rupees per year remains the same despite rising inflation. Discussion is underway.
