The election deparment of Jharkhand has made all necessary preparations to conduct free, fair and transparent polling at four parliamentary constituencies in the state on Saturday.
Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand, K. Ravi Kumar has appealed voters to go out with their family members and exercise their right to franchise for polling to be held in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and Giridih Lok Sabha seats. Voting will begin at 7 am and conclude at 5 pm at all four parliamentary seats.
Addressing a press conference this evening in Ranchi, the CEO said, in this phase of polling in Jharkhand, there are 82 lakh 18 thousand electorates, the highest when compared with earlier phases of voters in the state. Besides, there are a total of 8,963 polling booths spread across all four parliamentary constituencies. He said at all critical polling booths, personnel from paramilitary forces will be deployed.
Mr. K. Ravi Kumar also said that in order to ensure speedy voting, special training has been imparted to polling personnel. There are a total of 93 candidates in the fray for the this phase of polling in the state.
In Ranchi, even though there are 27 contesting candidates, the main fight will be between sitting BJP MP Sanjay Seth and Congress’ I.N.D.I.A. bloc nominee Yashasvini Sahay.
In Jamshedpur, there are 25 candidates who have thrown their hats in the ring. However, the main contest will be between BJP nominee Bidyut Varan Mahto and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s nominee Samir Mohanti.
In Dhanbad, BJP’s Dhullu Mahto will lock horns will Congress candidate Anupama Singh, whereas in Giridih, All India Jharkhand Students’ Union, alliance partner of the BJP, will take on JMM’s Mathura Mahto and Independent candidate Jairam Mahto.
