In the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha general election, voting will take place in Maharashtra on Monday, May 13, and the election system is fully in place for it. Chief Electoral Officer of the state, S Chokkalingam has urged voters to participate in the election enthusiastically and vote.
Eleven constituencies will participate in this phase including Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Raver, Jalna, Aurangabad, Maval, Pune, Shirur, Ahmednagar, Shirdi, and Beed. A total of 23,284 polling stations have been set up, catering to 2,28,01,151 voters. 298 candidates will be contesting in these constituencies, with 53,959 Ballot Units, 23,284 Control Units, and 23,284 VVPATs available.
Special arrangements have been made for voters above 85 years of age and divyang, who have the option of voting from home. Polling stations are equipped with ramps and wheelchair facilities for divyang voters.
Since the enforcement of the code of conduct in the state, 1,22,834 individuals have faced preventive action under the CRPC Act. Various enforcement agencies of the Central and State Governments have seized cash amounting to 59.29 crores rupees and liquor worth 45.72 crores rupees between March 1 and May 9, 2024.
