The Lok Sabha election in the 14 constituencies of Karnataka has concluded without any untoward incidents. The state registered an overall polling percentage of 64.55 percent as of 5.00 pm. In another development, a case was registered against Bangalore South BJP candidate Tejasvi Surya for the violation of election code of conduct for seeking votes in the name of religion. Another case was registered against BJP Chickballapur candidate K Sudhakar for alleged bribery and undue influence on the electorate and the cash amounting to 4.8 lakh crores was seized by the Flying squad team. On the other hand, BJP has lodged a complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer in Bengaluru that a fake newspaper cutting is being spread on social media carrying a headline that RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has called for a discreet attempt to change the constitution. The party has sought action against those responsible for such fake posts. In a tragic incident the 58 year old Yashodamma who was working as the Assistant Presiding Officer at Harapanahalli Gollarahatti polling station in Challakere taluk in Chitradurga today died while taking her to the hospital.
“The heat, dust and long queues did not discourage the voters to come out and vote in several booths of the 14 constituencies that went to polls today. There were celebrities, political leaders, technocrats and ex-servicemen who stood along with others in the line, waiting for their turn to cast their vote. There were also the newly wed couples, senior citizens, and youth who came out with enthusiasm. A hospital in Bengaluru facilitated voting for 41 of its inpatients with the help of election authorities. Several hotels in Bengaluru served free masala dosa, ladoo and cool drinks for free or at discounts to the voters. Online taxi service providers had offered free service to the aged and specially abled to go to vote.
