The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has informed Lok Sabha in the unstarred question on Tuesday that location specific climate resilient crops and varieties are introduced in 310 districts of the country. Out of these 310 districts in the country, 201 are termed highly vulnerable to climate change. The ministry has prepared the district agriculture contingency plans for 651 districts with weather aberrations. In the reply tabled in the Lok Sabha today, the ministry has informed that the concept of Climate Resilient Villages is initiated at 448 places where location specific climate resilient technologies have been demonstrated covering 28 states and Union Territories. The ministry has also introduced capacity building programmes to educate the farmers on various aspects of climate change for wider adoption of climate resilient technologies. ICAR has released 2177 varieties tolerant to climate change in the last 10 years.
