Lieutenant Governor Dr. B.D. Mishra Lays Foundation Stone for SLDC and REMC in Ladakh

 

 

 

In Ladakh, Lieutenant Governor Dr B D Mishra today laid the foundation stone of the upcoming State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) cum Renewal Energy Monitoring Centre (REMC) of Power Development Department. This project worth 153.96 crore rupees has been approved by the union power ministry under the Power System Development Fund Scheme. Union Territory Administration has also funded 28.42 crore rupees under its Special Development Package for construction of Civil Building of State Load Dispatch Centre Cum Renewal Energy Monitoring Centre. Along with this project, a backup of SLDC Cum REMC at Kargil and a communication system network of 532.11 km on transmission line of Ladakh Power Department are also in pipeline. The Project is being taken in four packages from establishment of SLDC Cum REMC for PDD, Optical Ground Wire, a Communication Equipment to establish the State Load Dispatch Centre Cum Renewal Energy Monitoring Centre at Leh and Backup in Kargil. It is one of the major infrastructural development projects for Ladakh approved by the union power ministry. With the establishment of this monitoring body, it will ensure round the clock monitoring of electrical grid and help in integrated operation of power system of Union Territory. Addressing the foundation stone ceremony, the Lieutenant Governor said, it is a historic and big step as it will develop infrastructure for power distribution and internet connectivity for Ladakh.
