Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has written to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal raising the issue of water scarcity in the national capital, especially in the poor settlements which has ‘exacerbated over the last decade’. In his open letter, the L-G accused Delhi Water Minister Atishi for using the death of a woman in East Delhi for narrow and partisan political goals. Mr Saxena said that having underlined the inadequate supply of water as the cause behind the incident, Atishi has ironically indicted her own government of more than nine years. He said that her note indeed is a prima facie admission of guilt, inaction and inefficiency over the past almost ten years. In the letter, the LG said that it has almost now become habitual on part of Kejriwal’s Ministers to blame officers for their own failures, be it in the field of health, hospitals, sanitation, education or water supply.
