In Jharkhand, tomorrow is the last day for filing nomination papers for the first phase of polls in the state. In view of this, a large number of candidates from different parties, including BJP, AJSU, JD(U), JMM, Congress, and RJD, as well as independent candidates, have filed their nomination papers. Chief Minister Hemant Soren filed his nomination from the Barhet assembly constituency, while Opposition Leader Amar Kumar Bauri filed his nomination from the Chandankyari seat. Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto filed his nomination from the Nala seat. Senior JD(U) leader Saryu Rai filed his nomination from the Jamshedpur West seat. Dr. Rameshwar Orao of Congress also filed his nomination for the prestigious Hatia seat. Meanwhile, during search operations, illegal materials and cash worth over 27 crore rupees have been seized from different parts of the state since the announcement of the assembly elections. Fourteen FIRs have been lodged for violations of the model code of conduct.
