Last day to file nominations for Delhi Assembly elections

Several candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, BJP, and Congress are going to file their nominations on the last day of nominations filing for the Delhi Assembly Polls. Till yesterday, over eight hundred nominations were received. Monday is the last date for the withdrawal of candidature. Meanwhile, political activities have gained momentum in the national capital. The candidates of AAP, BJP and Congress as well as small parties and independents are holding padyatras and door-to-door meetings to seek support in their favour. Prominent leaders of different political parties are reaching out to people to garner their support. BJP National President J P Nadda will release the party’s Sankalp Patra Part -1 this afternoon for the Delhi Assembly Elections. Senior party leader Anurag Singh Thakur, party MP Bansuri Swaraj, and others are campaigning in various parts of the city in favour of BJP candidates. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva hit out at Senior AAP leader and Delhi CM Atishi over her announcement of reinstatement of the scrapped excise policy previously in Delhi. He told the media that over two thousand crore rupees scam has happened in the old liquor policy as per the CAG report.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today demanded the Centre to provide a 50 per cent discount to students on metro fare. Briefing media in New Delhi, Mr Kejriwal said that a common student faces many problems, commuting in Delhi Metro. He added that the metro is the 50-50 venture of the Delhi government and the Central government and he has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that students should be given a 50 per cent discount on the metro ticket.

Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera claimed that BJP and Aam Aadmi Party have not done any work for the National capital. Addressing the media in New Delhi, he alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party has not fulfilled its poll promise to give 1000 rupees to the women of Punjab. Mr Khera said that the people have seen the development of Delhi in the 15 years of Congress rule. He said that the Congress will implement its guarantees from the very first year and the process to implement will start in the first cabinet meeting.

 

Voting for the Delhi Assembly elections will be held on the 5th of next month and the counting on the 8th of February.
