India’s ace shuttler Lakshya Sen delivered a dominant performance to defeat defending champion Jonatan Christie 21-13, 21-10 and advance to the quarterfinals of the 2025 All England Championships on Thursday.
Sen started aggressively, racing to a 4-0 lead before taking the first game 21-13. Christie briefly fought back to 5-5 in the second, but Sen’s powerful smashes proved too much as he closed out the match 21-10.
With the victory, Sen secured his first quarterfinal appearance of the year, marking his best performance since the Paris Olympics, where he reached the last eight.
Meanwhile, India’s women’s singles campaign at the All England Championships ended today as Malvika Bansod lost in straight games to Japan’s two-time world champion Akane Yamaguchi in the pre-quarterfinals. World No. 3 Yamaguchi cruised past World No. 28 Malvika 21-16, 21-13 in just 33 minutes. Earlier, two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu exited the tournament yesterday.
