Ladakh is set to celebrate a series of events with regard to the Apricot Blossom Festival, 2025, in different apricot-grown belts of both Leh and Kargil regions from today to promote tourism in the Union Territory. Inspired by the Cherry Flower blossom festival of Meghalaya in the northeast, Ladakh introduced Apricot Flower blossom Festival two years ago to boost eco-tourism in India’s one of the most sought-after travel destinations.
After the successful celebrations in the previous seasons in a few villages, now more villages have been added in this season, and May 4 has been marked as the last day of the festival at Tar village, a village recognised as the best tourism village in 2024 under Responsible Tourism Category by the Union Tourism Ministry.
Apricot flower blossom season, which lasts more than a month, is a season to cherish the beauty of Spring as Ladakh, being one of the biggest producers of apricots in the country, combines the spring season with pink and whitish colours.
Although the arrival of tourists in Ladakh starts in May, the Tourism Department has introduced the Apricot Flower Blossom Festival to make April an important month to attract tourists earlier than the usual tourism season and expand tourism in other less-known areas.
