Ladakh: Lungnak Block of Zanskar sub-division Kargil achieves 100 % coverage of water connection under Jal Jeevan Mission

In Ladakh, the Lungnak Block of the Zanskar sub-division Kargil district has achieved 100 percent coverage of water connection under the Jal Jeevan Mission to all the households of every village of the block.
 
With this significant milestone in water supply in rural villages, Lungnak has become the first block in Ladakh to ensure "Har Ghar Nal Se Jal" (tap water supply) under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme.
 
It was announced during the Apex Committee meeting of JJM held today under the Chairmanship of  Advisor Ladakh Dr. Pawan Kotwal.
 
It further said with the present 75 percent coverage of water connection to rural Ladakh, which is a notable transformation despite several challenges, Union Territory Ladakh now ranks 16th among all the States and UTs in the country.
 
The meeting also acknowledged that four of the 31 blocks of Union Territory namely Saspol and  Thiksey in Leh district and Drass and Bhimbat Drass in Kargil district have achieved 90 percent of households in water connection.

During the discussion on quality of water, it was informed three laboratories in Ladakh have received National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories( NABL) accreditation, while seven other labs are expected to receive the certification by September this year.
