In Ladakh, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Kargil hosted the Winter Vegetable Exhibition and Mela, showcasing innovations in greenhouse cultivation and introducing disease-resistant varieties. Executive Councillor Agriculture, Aga Syed Mujtaba, commended KVK’s efforts, emphasizing the potential for self-sufficiency in green vegetables during winter.

The event featured a diverse range of vegetables suitable for harsh winter climates, including Swiss Chard, Kale, Chicory, Dandelion, Orach, and Dum Lettuce. Lectures by experts covered topics such as winter vegetable cultivation, organic farming, vegetable marketing, and organic pest management. The interactive platform facilitated discussions among farmers, experts, and the administrative department on productivity, pest control, marketing, and input availability.

With a focus on sustainability and innovation, the Winter Vegetable Exhibition and Mela underscored the region’s commitment to agricultural progress and resilience in the face of challenging climates.
