In Ladakh, the much-awaited Kargil International Marathon with the message 'Run for Hunderman' was inaugurated with the flagging off of a 42 Km Full Marathon by Secretary Youth Services & Sports UT Ladakh Ravindra Kumar Dangi along with GOC 8 Mountain Division Maj Gen Sachin Malik.
Over 2300 runners from all over the world are taking part in the Full, Half, 10 km, and 5 Km run in Kargil International Marathon that is being organised by the District Administration Kargil and Ladakh Police in collaboration with Sarhad Pune.
Mr. Dangi said that both districts of UT Ladakh are turning into a sporting Hub for High Altitude Sporting events and are becoming adventure sports Api Centres in India. UT Administration is focused on developing Kargil as an ultimate Destination for Adventure Sports Tourism, he added. Talking about the security of the Sports Persons, the Secretary said that the UT Administration has come up with a draft Sports Policy and soon there will be a proper Sports Policy with Incentives and security for Sports Persons.
