With the aim of promoting tourism in Ladakh, the Department of Tourism, Union Territory of Ladakh, as per its annual calendar, is set to celebrate a series of events with regard to the Apricot Blossom Festival, 2025, in different apricot-growing belts of both the Leh and Kargil regions.
Inspired by the Cherry Blossom Festival of Meghalaya in the northeast, Ladakh introduced the Apricot Blossom Festival two years ago to boost ecotourism in one of India’s most sought-after travel destinations.
After the successful celebrations in the previous seasons in a few villages, now more villages have been added this season, and May 4 has been marked as the last day of the festival at Tar village, a village recognised as the best tourism village in 2024 under the Responsible Tourism Category by the Union Tourism Ministry.
Apricot flower blossom season, which lasts more than a month, is a season to cherish the beauty of spring. Ladakh, being one of the biggest producers of apricots in the country, combines the spring season with pink and whitish colours.
Although the arrival of tourists in Ladakh starts in May, the Tourism Department has introduced the Apricot Blossom Festival to make April an important month to lure tourists earlier from the usual tourism season and expand tourism in other less-known areas.
