Ladakh: District Police Kargil embarks on a series of measures aimed at ensuring law and order during upcoming elections

In Ladakh, District Police Kargil has embarked on a series of measures aimed at ensuring law and order during the upcoming elections. In an exclusive interview with Akashvani News, SP Shree Ram R disclosed the comprehensive plan devised by the district police to adhere to the Model Code of Conduct enforced by the Election Commission.

The primary initiative involves the mandatory deposition of licensed weapons at jurisdictional police stations, for the duration of the electoral period.

Additionally, to combat the illicit influx of cash, liquor, and drugs, the district police have erected strategic checkpoints, referred to as Nakas, at six key locations.

Moreover, the district police have proactively restrained individuals with criminal backgrounds and are vigilant against the spreading of rumours, particularly on social media platforms.

Further, religious organizations and government employees have been cautioned against engaging in any activities that could potentially sway the electoral process, as such actions are deemed illegal under electoral regulations.

Preparations are also underway to bolster security arrangements for the strong room and transportation plans, as well as to fortify security measures at polling stations with a history of law and order issues during previous elections.
