In Ladakh, the district Election Authority, Leh has geared up its machinery for the preparation of the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

 

The District Election Officer, Leh Santosh Sukhadev chaired a meeting yesterday to review the ongoing preparation of vulnerability mapping, identification of critical polling stations, communication facilities at the polling stations and transport plans of polling parties.

Discussion was held about the  security personnel deployment plan at the polling stations in critical and non critical areas.

 

To ensure  adequate seating capacity for the transportation for polling personnel to far flung and difficult  areas of the district, Additional Regional Transport Officer ARTO, Leh has apprised the meeting about specific need  of vehicles.

 

During the discussion about the connectivity through mobile  communication  network , Superintendent of Police Telecommunication  informed  a survey is being conducted to identify the areas with mobile network and without network.

 

Highlighting the communication plan in far flung and difficult areas which lack mobile coverage, he further said satellite phones would be used with polling parties to ensure smooth and fast communication.
