Ladakh: 35 villages along India-China border of eastern parts of UT identified under 'Vibrant Village Program’

In Ladakh, 35 villages along the India- China border of eastern parts of the union territory have been identified under the ambitious centrally sponsored scheme 'Vibrant Village Program'.
 
Vibrant Village Program is a scheme by union government introduced for the development of villages situated on the border of Ladakh Union Territory, Himachal Pardesh, Uttrakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim and it was announced in the 2022- 23 budget. Its target is to implement till 2025- 2026 financial year.
 
Executive Councillor of Leh Hill Council Tashi Namgyal Yakzee told AKashvani News, a planing process for these identified villages for implementation of this scheme by the Leh district administration is in the final stage with a timeline of submission of a detailed project report by 25 of this month.
 
He further said the major thrust has been given to rural livelihoods and the revival of livestock in these villages.
 
Under the Vibrant Village Program, it is proposed to set up a craft centre in every village for production of pashmina and wool products. Another major thrust has been given to road and telecommunication connectivity. Under the Vibrant Village Program, e -cycle along the World Famous  Pangong Lake and cycle track at Tsomoriri  Lake have also been proposed for the development of tourism.
 
Oxygen bars at various points between tourist spots at Changla Pass, Pangong Lake, Tsomoriri Lake, Puga Hot Spring, Tanglangla Pass, and Mehe Bridge have also been planned under the Vibrant Village Program for the convenience of tourists.
 
Dark Sky Sanctuary establishment has also been included in the Vibrant Village Program to ensure the benefits to every villager. 22 households have been given telescopes for the promotion of Astro tourism. The remaining households have been proposed to give telescopes under the Vibrant Village Program.

Food Processing and Chese Products plants, Indoor and outdoor Stadiums Ice Hockey Rinks and Archery grounds at block headquarters have also been proposed under the scheme.
