Labour and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya today announced the establishment of ten new Employee’s State Insurance Corporation -ESIC medical colleges. Addressing the 194th ESIC Meeting in New Delhi, the Minister said that the decision supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day pledge of seventy-five thousand new medical seats in the next five years. The government has also extended the Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojna for two years, which will be backdated and come into effect from July 1st this year to 30th June, 2026.
During the meeting, the convergence of ESIC with Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana on a PAN India basis was also announced. The Labour and Employment Ministry said that this decision will help the ESIC beneficiaries get treatment at Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantra Jan Arogya Yojana hospitals across the country. The Ministry added that the corporation has also approved the starting of paramedical and B.Sc. (Nursing) courses at ESIC Medical Colleges and adopted AIIMS’s recruitment policy for recruiting nursing officers.
