In Jammu and Kashmir, the district administration of Kishtwar is hosting a “Mega Tribal Fest” tomorrow at the historic Chowgan Ground. The festival marks the observance of Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas (जनजातीय गौरव दिवस), commemorating the anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda. The event is part of the “Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan”, a nationwide campaign being held from November 15 to November 26, aimed at empowering tribal communities by raising awareness of their social, political, economic, and legal rights. The fest will feature cultural activities that highlight the rich heritage and livelihoods of tribal communities in the mountainous district. The Mega Tribal Fest will also include various stalls displaying locally produced tribal artifacts, handicrafts, and agricultural products, providing a unique glimpse into the traditional skills and cultural diversity of the region’s tribal communities.
