Kiran George advances to men’s singles quarterfinals of Arctic Badminton Open 2024

In badminton, India’s Lakshya Sen and Kiran George advanced to the men’s singles pre-quarterfinals of the Arctic Open 2024 in Vantaa, Finland, yesterday. Kiran defeated the world No. 25 Wang Tzu Wei of Taiwan in straight sets, 23-21, 21-18, yesterday. He will face Jonatan Christie of Indonesia in the second round today. 
 
 
Lakshya Sen will be up against World Championships bronze medallist Chou Tien Chen of Taiwan today. Lakshya Sen progressed to the men’s singles round of 16 at the Arctic Open Super 500 tournament after his opponent Rasmus Gemke of Denmark gave a walkover in the opening round yesterday. In women’s singles, India’s Malvika Bansod, Unnati Hooda, and Aakarshi Kashyap also progressed to the round of 16 and will be in action today.
 
 
 
Malvika will face Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand, and Unnati will lock horns with Michelle Li of Canada, while Aakarshi Kashyap will face Han Yue of China. In mixed doubles, the Indian duo of Satish Kumar Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath will take on the Chinese pair of Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi today.
