The Wayanad district authorities have issued a red alert in Banasurasagar dam as the water storage level is fast approaching the rule curve,  following incessant rains in its catchment areas.  Water will be released from the reservoir by 8 am tomorrow, gradually stepping up the release to 35 cubic meters per second. Authorities have warned people living along the banks of the Karamanathodu River to remain vigilant as the water level is expected to rise 10-15 cm following the release.
