Kerala Health Minister urges media to avoid questioning children on Wayanad Landslide Tragedy

Kerala Health Minister Veena George has appealed to the media not to seek details of the tragedy from children who survived the Wayanad landslide. In a Facebook post, she said repeating details of what happened could lead to further etching them in their minds and more mental trauma in future. She suggested that media should refrain from asking children about other members of their household, their friends or about their damaged school.

The Minister observed that the identity of the child should be revealed only with the permission of their parents or guardian. She said many children may not be aware of the loss of their near and dear ones, and pinpointing an individual’s loss could even lead to the worsening of their traumatic condition.
