In Kerala, the district authorities in Kozhikode have relaxed restrictions in areas where containment zones were declared following Nipah virus infections. All the wards in nine village panchayats in Vadakara taluk have been exempted from containment zones. Some relaxations were issued in seven wards of Kozhikode Corporation and in all wards in Feroke Municipality, which were also declared as containment zones.
However, those in quarantine will continue to remain in isolation, till further instructions are received from the Health Department. The authorities have asked public to follow all general instructions issued in the wake of Nipah infections, including social distancing and usage of masks and sanitisers.
Meanwhile, State Health Miniser Veena George said no fresh positive cases of Nipah virus was reported in the district yesterday. She said the health condition of four Nipah positive cases, including that of a nine year old boy, is improving.
