All necessary arrangements are being made for the smooth conduct of the by-polls in Puthuppally Assembly constituency in Kottayam, Kerala tomorrow. Voting will be held from 7 am to 6 pm tomorrow.
 
Akashvani's correspondent reports that "7 candidates are in the fray. The main contest is between Chandy Oommen, the UDF candidate, Jake C Thomas, the LDF candidate, and Lijin Lal the NDA candidate. The bypoll assumes political significance as it will decide the successor of the former Chief Minister and Congress stalwart Oommen Chandy who had represented the constituency for a record 53 years at a stretch. One lakh 76,417 voters are there in Pudupally. A total of 182 polling booths are arranged with a webcasting facility, of which  10 polling booths will be manned entirely by women. A total of 872 officials and 675 security staff are being deployed. Counting of votes will be held on Friday,8 th Sep at Baselios College in Kottayam.
