In Kerala, Avian Influenza H5N1 has been confirmed in ducks in two panchayats, Edathva and Cheruthana in Alappuzha district.

District authorities have initiated steps to cull all farm birds within a one km radius of the affected area.

The presence of bird flu was confirmed by the National Institute of High-Security Animal Diseases in Bhopal.
