In Kerala, 70.51 percent of the electorate exercised their franchise in the by-poll held today for the Palakkad assembly seat.

Of the 1,94,706 voters in the constituency, 1,37,302 had cast their votes. Among the ten candidates in the fray, the main electoral battle is between Rahul Mankoottathil of the UDF, C Krishnakumar of the NDA, and the LDF-supported independent candidate, Dr P Sarin.

The counting of votes in the three by-polls held in the state recently will take place on Saturday.
