Keel Laying Ceremony for Two Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels at GRSE, Kolkata

Keels of two Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel NGOPV have been laid today at  Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited GRSE in Kolkata. Governor Dr C V Ananda Bose has initiated the keel laying ceremony in a programme. GRSE is building four such naval vessels for the Indian Navy. Each NGOPV will be 113 meters long and 14.6 meters wide which can achieve speed upto 23 knots. The endurance of the Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel will be 8500 nautical miles with speed 14 knots. The vessel can accommodate 24 officers and 100 sailsors. This next generation patrol of the India Navy will be bigger in size compared to the current Offshore Patrol Vessel. Today’s event was attended by officials of the Indian Navy, Army, Indian Air Force, India Coast Guard and GRSE.
