Karnataka Energy Minister K J George assures uninterrupted power supply during summer months

Karnataka Energy Minister K J George has assured uninterrupted power supply during the summer months. In a statement released to the media persons, the Energy minister has informed that adequate steps are taken to meet the power demand. He informed that the Government has decided to import 2.5 lakh tonnes of coal from Indonesia to help thermal power plants to generate an additional 600 to 800 MW of energy in addition to 3400 MW generated now. 
 
Under the bilateral energy swap scheme, the state is getting 900 MW every day from Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. Another 302 MW is available from the Central grid apart from 150 MW sought back by the state. The Central Generating stations are supplying 4000 MW as its share. As of 2017-18, the total electricity generation in Karnataka was 27,780 MW. K J George informed that the state consumes 329 Million Units of power per day and this year’s peak load is over 17000 MW.
