Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has blamed the Central Government for the plight of farmers in the state. In a statement issued by his office today, the Chief Minister states that the Central Government has not responded to many of the demands made by the State Government. The statement reads that the Central Government has failed in releasing the NDRF funds for the drought in the state. According to the statement, the Centre has not heeded to the State’s request to increase the Mandays under MGNREGA from 100 to 150 days in the drought hit areas. It stated that the Centre has not come to the rescue of the state to mediate a solution based on the distress formula for the Cauvery river Water sharing issue with Tamilnadu. The statement also blames the Central Government for not clearing Mahadayi and Mekedatu projects ensuring drinking water to the areas in the state.
