The Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed in Manipur also along with the rest of the country. The Day marks India's victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War that ousted Pakistani Forces from their occupied position on the mountain tops in Indian territory in 1999.
 
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary, Security Advisor to Manipur Government, high ranking civil and police officials attended the programme held at Manipur Secretariat Imphal.
 
While addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the State Government is firm on identifying illegal migrants and driving them out of the State. The State Government would strongly stand against the demand for separate administration and the current tension happening in Manipur is between the Government and the elements who want to disturb the peaceful co-existence in the State.
 
He said that the ongoing tension erupted in Manipur as the State Government started acting against drug cartels.
