The Union Minister for Communications and Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) Jyotiraditya M. Scindia who arrived Imphal this afternoon on one-day Manipur visit, chaired a meeting at the conference hall of Raj Bhavan Imphal and review the status of various projects currently underway in Manipur.

During the meeting which was also attended by the Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Shri Scindia highlighted several areas that require focused attention for the development of Manipur including handicrafts and handloom, sports, tourism, international trade, agriculture- particularly palm oil farming in the region.l He also directed officials present at the meeting to accelerate the pace of key infrastructure projects such as universities, Manipur IT-SEZ, mental hospital, maternity and child hospital et.

Later, the Governor of Manipur along with the Union Minister chaired a meeting of the High Level Task Force on Sports for the North Eastern Region. The Chief Minister of Mizoram and Nagaland along with the higher government officials of these states attended the meeg via video conferencing. During the meeting various initiatives aimed at developing the region’s sports sector were discussed.
