A Joint Statement issued after the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said that the two leaders expressed satisfaction over tremendous progress in UAE-India relations on all fronts. Bilateral trade rose to USD 85 billion in 2022, making the UAE India’s third-largest trading partner for the year 2022-23 and India's second-largest export destination. India is the UAE’s second-largest trading partner. 

A separate Joint Statement on Climate Change was also issued which emphasized on the urgent need to address the global challenge of climate change through global collective action under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement. In a joint statement, Prime Minister Modi and the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) committed to enhance cooperation on climate ambition, decarbonization, and clean energy, and work together to have tangible and meaningful outcomes from the 28th Session of the UNFCCC Conference of Parties.

Mr. Modi congratulated the UAE as the selected host country of COP28 in 2023 and extended his full support to the UAE’s COP28.

They affirmed the importance and significance of India’s G20 presidency and affirm the G20’s role for fostering and accelerating cooperation in combating climate change, with emphasis on finance and technology as critical enablers, as well as on just, inclusive, and sustainable energy transitions.
