Joint Director Youth Services & Sports of Ladakh chairs meeting with sports associations based in Kargil

In Ladakh, the Joint Director Youth Services & Sports, Ladakh, Moses Kunzang chaired a meeting today with sports associations based in Kargil and also informed regarding the progress of infrastructure development of the department in the UT in general and district Kargil in particular.

The meeting was attended by District Youth Service and Sports Officer Kargil, office bearers of Sports Associations based in Kargil & other officials. During the meeting, detailed discussion was held on initiatives of sports departments in infrastructure development, funding of activities sponsorship, organising championships and procurement of equipment/ gears for various sports activities in Ladakh.

The Joint Director underscored the progress of several projects at various stages and provided assurance of their timely completion. He emphasized the implementation of diverse initiatives and the provision of enhanced facilities to nurture the potential of players, enabling them to achieve remarkable milestones and bringing laurels to Ladakh.

Kunzang also elaborated about several projects such as the ongoing construction of the Indoor stadium near the Council Secretariat, Ice hockey rink at Bemathang, another one near Airport, the Indoor Stadium at Kargil near Hussaini park, and other projects at various stages of development. He informed the house about the new projects that have been conceived such as development of the Ice Hockey Rink in Shakar Chiktan, the indoor stadium at Drass and Sankoo and at Zanskar. He also shared the exciting news of Ladakh being granted as host of Winter Games 2024 Ice events by the Ministry of Youth Services and Sports, GoI. 

Later, he took feedback from the members of the Sports Association from Kargil regarding their challenges and concerns. He assured them of addressing their concerns. The sports association’s members appreciated the opportunity given to them by the department for grievances and suggestions. He also informed the participants about the refresher course being offered to the Physical Education staff at NIS Patiala on the initiative of Secretary YSS Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar.
