In Jammu and Kashmir, voting has begun for the second phase of Assembly Elections in twenty-six Assembly constituencies. The voting began at 7 AM and will conclude at 6 in the evening. Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure that maximum number of people exercise their right to vote. 3502 polling stations including 1056 urban and 2446 rural with webcasting facility have been established to ensure free, fair, and smooth polling.
National Conference leader and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Congress Pradesh chief Tariq Hamid Qarrah, Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina and Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari are prominent leaders whose electoral fate will be decided today.
Elections in Jammu & Kashmir are being held in three phases. The voting for 40 seats in third phase will be held on October 1, while counting of votes will take place on October 8.
