In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was suspended early this morning due to heavy rainfall causing landslides and shooting stones in the Ramban sector.
SSP National Highway Rohit Baskotra said the Highway NH-44 was closed following landslides, mudslides and shooting stones, triggered by heavy rainfall at over a dozen places between Nashri and Banihal including Dalwas, Mehad-Cafetia and Hingni in Ramban sector. Due to the closure of the Highway, hundreds of vehicles are stranded between Nashri and Banihal.
The SSP Traffic National Highway has advised commuters to avoid journeys on the Highway till the restoration works are completed.
