J&K: Srinagar-Jammu NH closed due to landslides, mudslides, shooting stones in Ramban

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Srinagar Jammu National highway is closed as the landslides, mudslides and shooting stones have blocked the road at various points along the highway in Ramban district in Jammu region. On Sunday, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Project Director, Purshotam Kumar, told Akashvani News Srinagar that it may take at least a week to reopen the road. He said there is a substantial amount of debris and mud spread over around 10 kilometres along the Ramban stretch of the highway.

Akashvani Correspondent reports that traffic officials said the light motor vehicles will be allowed to ply from South Kashmir’s Shopian district via Mughal Road towards Rajouri and Poonch to reach Jammu from 10 O’clock onwards today. They said no vehicular movement will be allowed from both sides of the highway till road and weather conditions improve. Meanwhile, the road clearance work has started in the Ramban area this morning. All schools in the Ramban district and the Kashmir Valley have been closed today as a precautionary measure owing to bad weather conditions.
