Jammu and Kashmir: Ten Civilians Injured in Grenade Attack in Srinagar

In the Kashmir Valley, at least ten civilians sustained injuries in a grenade attack at Sunday market outside the office of Akashwani Srinagar today afternoon.
 
As per reports, suspected terrorists lobbed a grenade at security forces vehicle at TRC crossing which missed the intended target and exploded on road causing injuries to atleast ten civilians. 
 
The Sunday market in Srinagar witnesses huge rush as people in large numbers visit the market for winter shopping. Police have cordoned off the whole area and have launched a massive search operation to nab the attackers responsible for the terror crime.
 
This incident comes a day after security forces eliminated three terrorists including a top Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba commander in two separate encounters at Khanyar locality of downtown Srinagar and at Larnoo Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
 
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha spoke to DGP Nalin Prabhat and senior officials of the security agencies on grenade attack in Srinagar and asked them to crush the terror outfits. He said terrorists targeting the civillians will have to pay a very heavy price. Mr Sinha also wished speedy recovery of those injured and directed that district administration to extend all possible assistance.
 
Condemning the attack, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah dubbed the incident as deeply disturbing. Mr Abdullah lambasted the recent spurt of attacks targetting innocent civilians and said that security apparatus must do everything possible to end this spurt of attacks at the earliest so that people can go about their lives without any fear.
 
 
Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Chaudhary, accompanied by Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Masood Itoo visited SMHS Hospital in Srinagar to inquire about the health of civilians injured in the grenade attack. They also interacted with the injured persons and assured them the best possible medical care. The Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister asked the hospital authorities to provide the  best possible treatment to the injured.
