Over 300 additional companies of paramilitary forces will be deployed in the Jammu division ahead of the three-phase assembly elections starting from the 18th of September in the Union Territory. The companies of paramilitary forces, including CRPF, BSF, Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB), and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), have been deployed to provide security for the smooth conduct of the assembly polls in the Jammu division. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Jammu-Kathua range, Shiv Kumar Sharma also assessed the accommodation facilities for the paramilitary forces. Accompanied by senior officers, the DIG also addressed concerns raised by the security personnel, assuring them of prompt resolution.
These paramilitary forces will be stationed across Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts to maintain security during the assembly elections in the UT. The Jammu, Kathua, Samba and Udhampur districts of the Jammu division will go for polls on the 1st of October, 2024 in the third phase of the assembly elections. Meanwhile, the notification for the second phase of the three-phased polls in the Union Territory was issued by the Election Commission of India today. The voting for the first phase will take place on September 18, the second phase on September 25, and the third and final phase on October 1.
