In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha dedicated the 28th edition of his monthly radio broadcast ‘Awaam Ki Awaaz’, to the local people and all the stakeholders engaged with the ongoing holy pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. Mr. Sinha expressed gratitude to all those who are selflessly working with determination and commitment to make the spiritual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji a pleasant one for the pilgrims undertaking the Yatra. He said the spiritual odyssey symbolises the tradition of kindness and compassion for one and all and maintained that the pious Shri Amarnathji Yatra inspires us to build a bright future for Jammu and Kashmir, rooted in human dignity, social equality and justice.
Meanwhile, the sacred annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath ji is progressing smoothly, with each passing day and has touched almost Two Lakh Thirty Thousand mark till this evening since its commencement on July 1, this year. The Yatra is scheduled to conclude on 31st of August coinciding the auspicious occasion of Shravan Purnima.
During the day, Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra was suspended temporarily by the authorities for a brief period today afternoon in view of the incessant rain at different halting points along both the Yatra routes. However, resumed following improvement in weather conditions along both the Yatra routes via Baltal in Ganderbal district and Nunwan-Pahalgam in Anantnag district.
Over twenty thousand Yatris paid their obeisance to the naturally formed ice shivlingam of Lord Shiva at the holy cave shrine till seven in the evening. With this, the cumulative number of pilgrims having paid their obeisance at 3,888 metre high holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath ji till this evening has risen to almost two lakh and thirty thousand yatra mark. The Yatris while returning from the holy cave or embarking towards the shrine are seen quite enthusiastic chanting Lord Shiva slogans apart from singing Shiv Bhajans that resonates the air and give a sacred atmosphere all around along the Yatra routes.
According to official sources, there is an unabated rush of pilgrims from both the tracks and entire Yatra routes remain agog with festivities round the clock. In view of the increasing rush of pilgrims, Shri Amarnath ji Shrine Board (SASB) and the Union Territory administration has made extraordinary arrangements for the convenience of the Yatris. The Jawans of SDRF and NDRF before the Mountaineering Team of J&K Police are manning both the Yatra routes besides Army, BSF and CRPF jawans, to ensure foolproof security to the pilgrims.
Huge rush of pilgrims is being witnessed in the city of temples "Jammu" since thousands of Yatris from different parts of the country are reaching the city on daily basis. The unabated rush is seen in front of registration counters where Yatris are waiting in long queues to get themselves registered for the Yatra.
