The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has exceeded its immunisation targets during the second round of Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0, a nationwide initiative focused on routine immunisation. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the UT conducted 4132 sessions, surpassing the planned 3188 sessions for immunisation in which the vaccination of over 6,000 pregnant women and approximately 34,000 children in the 0-5 age group was conducted. During the second round, which commenced on the 11th of September and concluded on the 16th of September, J&K exceeded its vaccination targets.
A similar performance was observed during Round-I, during which J&K achieved a 95 per cent coverage of the beneficiaries under the IMI 5.0. Worth to mention, the target for vaccinating pregnant women in the UT was set at 4,529 and an impressive 6,146 were successfully vaccinated. In the same period, a target of 21,707 children in the 0-5 age group was set, and a total of 34,058 children were immunized across J&K. Following the successful conclusion of the First and Second Rounds of IMI 5.0, the final round is scheduled to take place from the 9th to the 14th of October this year. Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0 aims to eliminate Measles-Rubella disease from India by December 2023.
