J&K: Deaf-mute sisters of Silent Village inspire voters to participate in festival of democracy

Three deaf-mute sisters of Dadhkai Panchayat, also known as the silent village of India in the Gandoh area of Doda district are enthusiastically preparing to cast their vote tomorrow and inspiring others to participate in the festival of democracy.   Despite having hearing and speaking disability these three siblings aged between 20 and 24 are upbeat to participate in the polling. Reshma Bano (24), Parveen Kousar (22), and Saira Khatoon (20) daughters of Reham Ali of Dadhkai B Panchayat have of late become a source of inspiration for their neighbours and relatives.

Dadhkai-B is located on the hilltop about 9000 ft above sea level in the Gandoh sub-division of the Doda district.

The village is also known as the mute village of India because it houses 84 deaf and dumb persons. Gandoh in the Doda district is a part of the Doda-Udhampur parliamentary constituency which will go to polls tomorrow.
