In Jammu and Kashmir, the office of Chief Electoral Officer has established a high level Command and Control Center at Nirvachan Bhawan, Jammu to keep a check on cases of paid and fake news in the Union Territory during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Our correspondent reports that the center has been equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and functions round-the-clock, ensuring strict and prompt action against any suspected case of fake or paid news. This center will serve as the nerve center for General Elections 2024, further strengthening the monitoring mechanism in the Union Territory. It is currently monitoring around 21 National TV channels and 6 local TV channels and any attempt to spread false information will be dealt with swiftly and firmly.
In addition to media networks, the command center is also keeping a strict vigil on social media channels and accounts to keep a check on spread of fake news. Worth to mention, the citizens can also report cases of MCC violations on cVigil app or can directly tag the social media handles of CEO office available on Instagram, Facebook and twitter.
