Jishnu Dev Varma will take oath as the Governor of Telangana at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad this evening. The state administration has made all arrangements for the ceremony to be held at 5.03 PM. Jishnu Dev Varma, who served as Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura State from 2018 to 2023, was appointed the new Governor of Telangana a few days ago replacing the current Governor CP Radhakrishnan, who has been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra State.
Born on August 15 1957, Jishnu Dev Varma served as the President of the Badminton Association of India. He joined the BJP in 1993 and played a key role in the party since then. In the Tripura government, he also held the responsibilities of Power, Rural Development, Panchayat Raj, Finance, Planning, Science and Technology and Environment Ministries. He lost the Assembly election last year from Charilam in the Sepahijala district.
