JIPMER & ICMR organises marathon to promote Breast Cancer Awareness

In a significant initiative to promote breast cancer awareness, the Department of Medical Oncology at JIPMER, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research’s Breast Cancer Survival Study (ICMR-BCSS), organised a marathon in Puducherry. The event was part of the Pink October celebrations, dedicated to raise awareness about breast cancer, its early detection, and treatment options.

 

JIPMER Acting Director, Dr. Gautam Roy, Medical Superintendent Dr. L.N. Dorairajan and Associate Dean (Academic) Dr. Ravi Chittoria flagged off the marathon.

 

The marathon conducted in the theme “No one should face breast cancer alone,” saw the participation of 150 individuals, including healthcare professionals, students, and members of social service groups. The run which began from JIPMER concluded at the Mahatma Gandhi Statue on Rock Beach.
