Jharkhand: Scrutiny of nominations for 2nd phase of assembly elections completes; Polls Scheduled for Nov 20

In Jharkhand, scrutiny of nominations for the second phase of assembly elections completed today. Six hundred thirty-four candidates have filled their nominations for this phase. Thirty-eight constituencies will go to polls in the second phase on the 20th of November. Candidates can withdraw their nominations till the first of November.

 

Withdrawal process of candidatures for the first phase of elections completed today. 743 candidates are in the fray. Forty-three constituencies will go to polls in the first phase of elections on the 13th of November. The counting of votes will be undertaken on November 23rd. Meanwhile, during search operations, illegal materials and cash worth over 121 crore have been seized from different parts of the state since the announcement of the assembly elections. Twenty nine FIRs have been lodged for violations of the model code of conduct. In view of assembly elections, raids were conducted at jails in the districts of Pakur, Giridih, Sahibganj, and Jamtara. A combing operation is being carried out in naxal-infested areas to ensure trouble-free elections.
