In Jharkhand, hoarding, posters and banners of political parties are being removed across the state following the imposition of model code of conduct. Municipal authorities have been instructed to take strict action in accordance with the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India. Any violation will result in action under the Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1987, which outlines penalties for unauthorized public display of political content.
Meanwhile, the election commission has instructed not to release funds under MP’s and MLA’s Local Area Development Scheme. The assembly elections in Jharkhand will be held in two phases on 13th and 20th of next month. Counting will be taken up on 23rd November.
