The CBI court today pronounced its verdict after 28 years in the much talked bitumen scam case in Ranchi. The court of CBI’s special judge P.K. Sharma has sentenced five convicts, including former Bihar minister Md Ilyas Hussain, to three years of imprisonment each. The court has also imposed a fine of 32 lakh each rupees. The court has also directed that if the convicts fail to pay the fine, they will have to serve an additional sentence of six months each. The accused who have been sentenced include Md Ilyas Hussain, Md Shahabuddin Baigh, Pawan Kumar Agarwal, Ashok Kumar Agarwal and Vinay Kumar Sinha. Seven other accused in this case were acquitted by the court due to lack of evidence.
