The Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested six terrorist associates in Awantipora, having links with Pakistan-based terror outfits and recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives along with other incriminating materials from their possession.
According to the police officials, the Awantipora police got specific input that a Pakistan-based Kashmiri terrorist of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit was in the process of identifying youth, who could be motivated to join terror groups and after finding such youth, arms, ammunition and explosives were being delivered to these youths to commit terror activities.
Based on the intelligence information, a probe was initiated. During the investigation, the police identified the youths who were part of this module. It came to the fore that Pakistan-based terrorists with the assistance of an over ground worker (OGW) in jail identified many youths who were motivated by them to join terror ranks in the Tral area of Awantipora and Kulgam district. Investigation into the case is underway and more arrests and recoveries are likely.
